Sensory Language and the Semantics of Taste

«Sensory Language and the Semantics of Taste» is an interdisciplinary research project that brings together expertise in linguistics and food sensory science. The project aims to deepen our understanding of how sensory language—particularly related to taste—is used and how it evolves over time, with a special focus on consumer language.

The research team has explored taste vocabulary across various languages and is currently concentrating on how consumers describe plant-based food products. Describing taste can be challenging in everyday conversation, and this project seeks to uncover the patterns and nuances behind how people talk about what they taste.

We take taste literally.
